In this hands-on course, you’ll start with essential out-of-the-kit effects that form the foundation of professional special make-up artistry. You’ll master both two- and three-dimensional techniques to realistically simulate injuries and various other effects. Our experienced team of make-up artists will guide you step-by-step through the application and coloring of foam gelatin prosthetics, silicone GFA appliances, foam latex prosthetics, and Pros-Aide transfers — equipping you with versatile skills to bring any special effect to life.

In this course
we will cover:

MUD is renowned for training many of Hollywood's top award-winning SFX artists.

This course starts by teaching you the real, industry-standard techniques, providing a comprehensive path to simulate a variety of special make-up effects using numerous methods.

You will learn to create realistic scratches, wounds, scars, cuts, lacerations, burns, and even temporary tattoos. The program also covers prosthetics application and coloring techniques to bring fully developed characters to life.

Creating realistic bruises with professional stippling techniques
Applying various prosthetics to build detailed characters
Crafting cuts and wounds using specialized silicone products
Producing scratches and grazes with black stipple sponges and brushes
Designing both two- and three-dimensional scars
Simulating entrance and exit bullet holes using wax
Using latex foam and gelatin prosthetics to replicate injuries
Mastering colouring techniques for special make-up effects with both brushes and airbrush tools
Following precise protocols for application and safe removal of SFX make-up
